I just simplified the homepage down to almost nothing about the actual building. Mobile is the real, immediate thing happening right now, and I didn't want the site implying otherwise. But cutting that content didn't mean I stopped picturing it — I'd rather put the vision here, clearly labeled as a vision, than pretend it doesn't exist.
So: none of what follows is built. There's no lease, no confirmed site, no date. This is what I'm picturing, not what I'm promising.
Walking in
The idea I keep coming back to is an arrival that doesn't feel like a rental counter. Check in, grab clubs that feel like yours for the hour, and be hitting balls in under two minutes — no waiting on staff, no fumbling with gear you don't own.
The bays
Real course data, not a demo mode — play an actual course in the morning, dial in a wedge after work. Of everything in this post, the bays are the piece I feel most confident about, because the technology already exists. The mobile unit runs a version of exactly this.
A real lounge, not a waiting room
Every indoor sim place I've been to treats the space between bays like an afterthought — a bench, maybe a vending machine. I want an actual 19th hole: somewhere people want to sit after their round, with a full bar and enough room to bring a group. Book a bay for four, order a round, play courses none of you will ever set foot on in real life. That's the version of a Friday night I'm picturing.
Room to make it yours
Private events and full buyouts are part of the picture too — a birthday, a corporate outing, a bachelor party where the whole space is just for your group, not shared with strangers on the next bay over.
The long game
If this works — and "if" is doing real work in that sentence — I'd love to see it become more than one location. Northern Virginia is the actual test: no indoor competition nearby, plenty of golfers, a real gap. If the model holds up here, I don't see a reason it couldn't hold up somewhere else too. But that's a conversation for years from now, not a plan I'm making promises around today.
Why this isn't first
